Assignment 2. Creating flashcards, mind maps & interactive posters

Hello!

In this second assignment I wanted to think about something that maybe is not the usual content to teach in a class, but that can be very interesting and entertaining for the students, but also for me!

So, I have decided to focus my project on superpowers and superheroes!

I am a very big fan of Marvel, Comics and Movies, so I think this is the perfect oportunity to show my enthusiasm to my students and being able to connect at a different level, and not just on the student-teacher relation.

I had to create three different types of media for this assignment: flashcards, a mind map and an interactive poster, and I will link here my presentation of the assignment plus the media that I have created!

FLASHCARDS

Definition of Invisibility. Flashcard.

This is an example of one of my flashcards:

In one part, we will have the name of the superpower, in this case, Invisibility, and, in the reverse of the card, we will have the definition of the superpower plus an image of a superhero whose main power is the one mentioned in the card. In this case, the Invisible Woman.

Here, you have the rest of the flashcards: Superpowers Flashcards

MIND MAP

Superpowers. A Mind Map.

For this mind map, I have divided the superpowers from the flash cards into seven different categories,
each of them with a superhero to improve our visual memory.

INTERACTIVE POSTER

In the case of the interactive poster, what I have done is taking the mind map to a further level,
providing a brief introduction to each of the categories of the superpowers, and then, a short biography
of the superheroes and the powers. Plus, supporting the descriptions with media files so we can all see
what the powers look like "in real life".

Finally, here I present to you my whole explanation of the project! Hope you enjoy the video :)

I hope you have learnt that learning is not about one thing or another, and can be about everything you want if you have passion to teach it!

A huge THANKS again to my friend Maria who has the patience to try and do all the edits of my videos <3

Thank you and see you soon :)

  1. Great project, excellent topic for teenagers, although the vocabulary can be a bit of a challenge. I would have appreciated some more interaction in the poster. Your presentation makes it even better!!! Brilliant!!!
